Replace Your Car’s Brake Pads Like an Expert

Firstly, you will need a well-lit area with plenty of space. Gather your tools such as a jack, jack stands, lug wrench, wrench and socket set, screwdriver, and rags. Loosen the nuts on the wheel so they’ll be easier t remove later on. Then jack up the car and slide the stands under the frame of the car where they are stable and lower the jacks. Take off the nuts and remove the wheel. Inspect your brake line and if need be, repair or replace it.

To repair a brake line, cut a part of the line at the divider fitting off and get another one. You will also need compression fittings. Run the new line and screw one end into the divider fitting; use the compression fittings to attach the two steel lines together on the other end. The new line will have flared ends to make this fit. Seal the line securely after tightening the nuts in the fittings.

Moving onto the pads, you will need to unbolt the caliper and place it to the side. If there are brackets on the pads remove and set aside for later. The old brake pads should easily come off. If you need to replace the discs, now would be the ideal time. Remove the sets of screws and discard the old disc. Replace it with the new disc. Then look in the caliper for the piston that you will have to push to return to its original position. You are ready to put the new pads and brackets on. Re-bolt the caliper and test the brakes by tapping them a few times for pressure before putting tires and nuts on. You can now lower the vehicle.

When starting any do it yourself project, you should think about the pros and cons. If you have the patience and the time, doing these and other projects can save you money and teach you more about your vehicle. But think about whether or not you want to invest the time and effort of going out and buying all the various tools you may need. The risk of purchasing the wrong materials may set you back. You should keep in mind that having these jobs done professionally can comfort you. Knowing that everything is properly done, the parts are correctly ordered, and the job is completed can lift a heavy burden off of your shoulders.

How should you replace your Shock Absorbers

Bouncing down the road one day it occurs to you that things are just not what they should be. The road you are riding on is as smooth as glass, yet your car is jostling up and down like nobody’s business. You enter an upcoming curve in the road and quickly learn that the control you had over your car was lost just moments before. Suddenly, the vehicle Shock Absorbers careens off the road, goes down through a ditch and up an embankment before coming to rest against a fence adjacent to Tony’s garage. You are in luck: you aren’t dead and your car is at Tony’s, who happens to be your favorite mechanic.

Yes this story is ridiculous, exceedingly so. All joking aside, your shock absorbers [or struts in the case of some cars] plays a vital part in your vehicle’s suspension system. When certain signs of wear and tear become apparent, you must replace your shocks or otherwise you can put yourself in danger and/or damage your car. A shock absorber works by damping the compression and extension of the vehicle’s suspension springs to prevent ongoing movement. Monroe Shock Absorbers work to diminish road impact, prevent excessive bounce back, reduce sway, and improve general road handling.more…

Making Your Auto Parts Last

Auto repairs are usually always going to be expensive no matter how you slice that pie that you’ve been given, but the greatest thing about fixing your car now is that you’ve done one more auto repair that won’t need to be done in the future. It’s very unfortunate, though, that automobiles are not made to last even though the high prices we pay for them are simply outrageous. Nevertheless, all of the auto parts within a car generally fail within five to ten years, and it’s usually necessary to embark on the journey of replacing every single thing underneath the hood of the car, all with the exception of the engine and motor. Nevertheless, though, there are some definite ways to keep your auto parts working smooth when they’re underneath the hood of the car, and it only takes a little bit of care to see it through.

Preventive Maintenance

The first thing that one should realize about the auto parts in their car is that they are all like beautiful voices that mesh together in order to sing the most beautiful song on earth. If one of the voices, or auto parts, is out of tune then chances are that the whole song will be messed up. If one thinks about the auto parts in this way, though, chances are that he or she will have more luck when taking care of the car. Preventative maintenance is the key, though, and one issue that many people are oblivious to is that the oil in a car needs to be changed every 3,000 miles or ever 3 months. Even though this is one of the basic lessons that should be learned, one may be surprised to find out that there are thousands of people who have no clue.

By virtue of being in the car, the oil is meant to lubricate all the auto parts within the car so that they can last longer, run smoother, and be more efficient. There are plenty of ways to make sure that the oil is changed every three months, but the greatest way is to have a sticker placed on the inside of your windshield, which is what most oil-changing establishments usually do anyway.more…

Which Auto Parts Keep Your Car Running Smooth

There comes a time in the life of every car when it sputters, kicks, squirms, and just does not want life to go on for anybody. Humans are naturally upset at these things when they happen. But more often than not, the automobile owners actually wonder why this happen, and then they remember that they haven’t changed their oil, given the car new auto parts, or had a tune up since the year before last. That may be the source of the problem, and certainly the car thinks so because it seems angry about something or another. If you don’t go to auto repair shops because you think that they’re too downright expensive then you may just have to consider doing some of the auto repairs yourself. Here are some of the necessary auto parts and repairs that one should do on their car not only to make it happy, but also to keep it running smooth.

Tune-ups are Necessary

Have you ever been on the highway and your car started to jump just about the time that you hit 50 miles per hour? No, it definitely wasn’t excitement coming from under the hood, but it may just have been a huge sign that you need to fix something in the car, and that you must be quick about it. This is actually usually the sign that your car needs a tune-up, and some of the auto parts that are involved in this procedure are the spark plugs. Just remember that if the spark seems to have left your car in one way or another then the spark plugs may need to be changed.more..

Selling Your Auto Parts on eBay

There are plenty of ways to get rid of the auto parts that you currently have for one reason or another, but you may consider simply selling them on eBay. There are actually a whole lot of reason that eBay should be used to sell your auto parts and they will be explained in this article. But if you are looking to start an eBay business selling auto parts then you may also be able to pull this off. On the other hand, you may want to start small by selling the parts that you currently have around your house. Nevertheless, this article will explain the full benefits of selling your current auto parts, as well as other auto parts, on eBay or another auction-type website on the World Wide Web.

More Bang for your Buck

Even though the phrase “more bang for your buck” usually relates to purchasing something in a store, the same can be said about selling your auto parts on eBay. There are probably more people who will be willing to pay a higher price, or reasonable price for that matter, on an eBay auction price, than there are individuals who would like to purchase auto parts at high prices in retail stores. So there is definitely a chance that you could profit off of the old auto parts that you currently have by selling them on eBay.

There are some people who contend that the junk yards that can be found will pay more for your auto parts then somebody on eBay will, but that is unlikely to happen altogether. Consider that a person who owns a junk yard will probably pay only $5 or $7 for a muffler, but then a person who is purchasing a muffler on eBay will probably pay $10 to $20. One is able to get about double their money if they decide to sell on eBay or another auction website as opposed to simply selling them at a junk yard.

Easier Process

The whole process of selling your auto parts on eBay is also quite different and a whole lot easier, too. The only thing that needs to be done is to list an auction on the auto parts section of eBay’s website and you’ll have an auction in no time. Furthermore, after someone decides to purchase your listed auto parts then you will automatically be paid, usually through the Paypal service. There is no haggling involved for a higher price, which is usually required when selling auto parts at a junk yardmore…

Rolls-Royce Releases Ghost Specifications

Trickle, trickle. Rolls-Royce is really dragging this one out, aren’t they? We saw the concept, then got a name announced, then heard about more variants and in among all of that, many spy shots of the car sans camouflage have been captured.

The strategy must be working though: Rolls-Royce said it has received more than 10,000 “expressions of interest” in the Ghost, with around 1,500 of those “expressing a serious desire to own the vehicle.” Your guess is as good as mine whether or not that means orders.

Early in 2008 I was at Tsukuba Circuit when I saw this fully-tuned Nissan Pulsar GTI-R running at a track day. My memory has escaped me a bit, but I recall an SR20VE swap (or head conversion at least), a rear radiator being vented through the back windows, and of course the wide body conversion – which I’m assuming is one-off.

Looking back, I  really regret not tracking down the owner to learn more about the car. Since then I’ve searched the ‘net countless times for more details no avail.
